Notes

  • Carries a family heirloom ring — a hereditary Warden hero marker; activates with glowing runes + indoor snow when worn; now permanently upgraded after completing the Warden Trials
  • Speaks Orcish — used it to befriend Gorak the zombie ogre
  • The killing blow on Valkyrian — two Divine Smites back to back, the second totaling 38-41 damage; ended the fight
  • Was literally vaporized to ash during the Summer Star explosion, then resurrected when the sun appeared
  • His secret name “War Painter” was used to confirm his identity while he was a ghost (written in ash)

The Warden Ring

Upgraded after completing all three Warden Trials (sessions Feb 15 + Feb 22):

  • Witness of Deep (1/long rest): When performing a clearly heroic act and failing a roll, choose to succeed instead
  • The Land Knows Him: Advantage on rolls related to ancient sites, spirits, or Warden relics
  • Veins turned faintly blue (branching from the ring) after the final trial
  • The ring activates (glows, causes indoor snow) when worn; the sigil is associated with ancient hero wardens

Abilities / Items

  • Divine Smite — primary damage tool; used to devastating effect against Valkyrian
  • Protection Fighting Style — used throughout the Valkyrian fight to grant disadvantage on attacks targeting allies; saved multiple party members
  • Lay on Hands — used during the final Warden Trial to heal himself before stepping forward
  • Warden Ring (see above)

Interaction Log

Session — Feb 15, 2026 (Duergar Fortress)

  • Befriended Gorak (zombie ogre) by speaking Orcish and feeding him 20 Goodberries
  • Used Protection to shield the party repeatedly
  • Warden Trials began during the shared vision at camp: completed Trials 1 and 2 (protecting Jarthara; fighting together back-to-back)

Session — Feb 22, 2026 (Warden Trial Conclusion + Dwarven Valley)

  • Completed the Third Warden Trial: stepped alone toward a frost titan; ring burned hot (not cold); heard his father’s voice: “You are not remembered for surviving. You were remembered for holding.”
  • Trial completed; ring upgraded; veins turned blue
  • Was nearly lost in the avalanche (Thorkin’s spiritual weapon accidentally skewered him to the ice wall — saved his life but dealt 44 near-fatal damage)
  • Helped clear the Chardalyn mine; fought the Needle Lord boss

Session — Mar 1, 2026 (Return to Lonelywood)

  • Dug up the second half of the Storm Tablet from a frozen riverbank in Bremen
  • Joined both halves; full inscription revealed; hidden runes appeared

Session — Mar 8, 2026 (Black Cabin)

  • Vaporized by the Summer Star explosion (87 radiant damage, failed CON save — instant death)
  • Existed as a ghost; wrote his secret name in ash to prove it was really him to Thorkin
  • Resurrected when Kelrick summoned the sun and Maseridis’s spirit found peace
  • Gained Blessing of the Morning Lord: 10 temp HP at dawn permanently

Session — Mar 22, 2026 (Crimson Concord Tomb)

  • Used Protection fighting style throughout; granted disadvantage on multiple enemy attacks
  • Fought two waves of Wraiths; radiant damage effective

Session — Mar 29, 2026 (Valkyrian Fight)

  • Protection saving allies throughout all three phases
  • Landed the killing blow: two Divine Smites back to back — Valkyrian collapsed
  • Was down to low HP by the end but survived
