Background
Maseridis was a brilliant artificer who built the Summer Star — a weather-control orb designed to end Icewind Dale’s eternal winter. He died in the Black Cabin when the Summer Star exploded due to a missing third containment ring.
His ghost remained bound to the cabin, unable to move on.
The Summer Star Incident
When the party arrived at the Black Cabin, the Summer Star exploded — the blast killed Nalla and Dekyna, reducing them to ash.
Maseridis’s ghost communicated with Nalla and Dekyna (who were also ghosts after the explosion) using frost, ash, and pepper writing on surfaces. He guided the party to repair and reactivate the Summer Star.
When the sun appeared for the first time in the endless winter, Maseridis’s spirit found peace and dissolved.
Per the Black Cabin’s rule: His spirit being laid to rest restored Nalla and Dekyna to life.
Legacy
- Blessing of the Morning Lord — All party members who helped lay Maseridis to rest gained 10 temporary HP at dawn permanently
- Larry Grazer — A close friend in Bryn Shander who was devastated to learn of his death
- The Summer Star he built (however briefly) did work — it stopped the winter
